There is a free trial version of VW. Research what file types the cheap alternatives use and then use the free version to export your dad’s drawings as the compatible file type. I’m almost sure VW allowed for export to dwg file types. Good luck

What are the file extensions?

If they are DXF or DWG, most CAD software will support them.

Thank you for this article. My dad used to use VectorWorks but we no longer have access to it. I’m trying to find software which will allow us to access some of his old designs, but without having to fork out hundreds for VW. Are you aware of any programmes that could do this?

Thanks,

Zubin
