I think that it must be ‘per concurrent user’.

Question about the PDM licenses, are those price points per seat ? Or does an organization only require 1 license enabling any number of users to access PDM ?

Thanks for sharing, Liam. Yes, purchasing from someone who isn’t a verified reseller is definitely to be avoided. You’ve offered some useful advice, thanks.

– the resellers have told me they don’t have any flexibility to lower the subscription price since it is dictated by DSS, but they can offer deals when you purchase multiple products. They can also ask for approval to space out the subscription cost over payments to help people that want to avoid a big bill once a year.
– when considering perpetual vs. subscription, one should understand Solidworks’ lack of backwards compatibility. So if you have a client or customer that’s working in a newer version of SW you won’t be able to open the files. I think there may be compatibility between consecutive service packs, so 2019 SP1 can be opened in 2018 SP5, but that’s it. There’s a add-in that enables saving back into an older version called Backworks but I haven’t used it.
– DON’T USE SOLIDWORKS THAT YOU DIDN’T GET FROM A RESELLER. Speaking from (painful, embarassing) experience. Bought a copy on craigslist, it was pirated, SW can tell, they made me purchase a full price premium license with subscription to remedy the situation (avoid legal action). This would also apply to purchasing a computer with solidworks on it – it’s not your license.

If I purchase SolidWorks PDM Professional CAD Editor must I pay the Permanent license cost and the Annual subscription cost up front or can I pay the Annual subscription at the end of the first year?
Thanks Eric

SolidWorks PDM Professional CAD Editor Permanent: $1,895 subscription: $495
